Zenhub Raises $10M to Expand Project Management Beyond Github Teams

Zenhub, a project management solution for software teams, has announced it raised $10 million in Series A funding led by Yaletown Partners, with support from BMO Capital Partners and existing investors BDC Capital.

The funding will be used to expand the use of Zenhub’s platform beyond technical teams using GitHub. To support this, Zenhub has launched Zenhub Issues, a new issue management experience that allows internal and external stakeholders to create and collaborate on tasks with technical teams.

Michael Sfalcin, principal at Yaletown Partners, said that Zenhub has built its reputation as an efficient and painless way to get best practices for agile development running within software teams. The expansion of the platform will enable visibility into the code base for non-technical employees, and this is what excited Yaletown Partners about partnering with Zenhub. Zenhub’s platform vision aims to break down silos and provide a solution that every stakeholder can rely on to understand the progress of software projects.

As software has become mission-critical to almost every modern organization, more stakeholders than ever are now involved in the process of developing and bringing software to market. Tyler Gaffney, Zenhub’s CEO, said that software development is increasingly becoming a team sport, and the driving force behind Zenhub’s platform vision is to break down the silos between teams and provide a solution that every stakeholder, whether internal or external, can rely on to understand the progress of software projects.

Zenhub Issues solves the challenges of non-technical stakeholders becoming involved in the development process and the increasing security-consciousness of organizations. It allows non-technical users to create issues, tasks, and track projects in Zenhub without requiring a GitHub account. This provides enhanced security, cost savings, and improved collaboration. Clients, customers, and contractors can be given access to Zenhub Issues without needing access to the underlying GitHub repos. Additionally, organizations no longer need to maintain separate project and product management solutions for different internal teams.

The current macroeconomic environment has forced many organizations to operate lean, reduce spend, and figure out ways to increase output without increasing headcount. Zenhub’s platform provides productivity benefits beyond development teams working in GitHub. Paul Nashawaty, principal analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group, said that developers want to spend their time coding rather than in meetings providing updates to non-technical stakeholders. Zenhub Issues aims to unlock more productivity so that development teams can do more with the resources they have today.
